Norwegian RIFF to host Iran’s ‘The Other’

The R. E. D. Int’l filmfest in Norway is to screen Iran’s ‘The Other’.

The 2021 edition of the R. E. D. International Film Festival (RIFF) in Norway has been scheduled to receive acclaimed Iranian short flick ‘The Other’.

Made by Ako Zand-Karimi and Saman Hosseinpour, the short film will go on screen at the Main Competition program of the 6th edition of the Norwegian fest.

‘The Other’ tells the story of a traditional man who suspects his dead wife of having a relationship with another man.

Things go from bad to worse when he suspects that her daughter belongs to the other man.

The cast list of the flick includes Mohammad Potki, Mohammad Bidaq-Beigi, Asieh Moradizar, and Shiva Soufi-Mahmoudi.

The film has already participated in a number of global events and won awards, including the Best Silent Film award at the Venice Intercultural Film Festival in Italy and the Best Cinematography award at the International Film and Music Festival Kustendorf in Serbia.

Established in 2015, the RIFF aims to bridge the gap between various forms of art and the film industry.

This year, due to the pandemic, the event is being held in two separate versions.

The first one will be drive-in cinema held in Einawood farm. The other version will be held online.

The 6th edition of the event is slated for June 25-July 3.
